A Logic of Partially Satisfied Constraints
نویسنده
چکیده
Soft constraints are recognised as being important for many constraints applications. These include (a) over-constrained problems, where we cannot satisfy all the constraints, (b) situations where a constraint can be partially satisfied, so that there are degrees of satisfaction, and (c) where the identity of a constraint is uncertain, so that it can be uncertain whether a constraint is satisfied or not by a tuple. This paper takes a logic-based approach to partially satisfied constraints, for situations where a tuple can be assigned partially ordered degrees of satisfaction for a constraint. A semantics is defined, which determines which constraints can be inferred from a set of constraints, and a sound and complete proof theory is given. This formalism is closely related to idempotent semiring-based CSPs and lattice-valued possibilistic logic.

Sampling-Based Reactive Motion Planning with Temporal Logic Constraints and Imperfect State Information
This paper presents a method that allows mobile systems with uncertainty in motion and sensing to react to unknown environments while high-level specifications are satisfied. Although previous works have addressed the problem of synthesising controllers under uncertainty constraints and temporal logic specifications, reaction to dynamic environments has not been considered under this scenario. ...
متن کاملA New Method for Solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems
Many important problems in Artificial Intelligence can be defined as Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSP). These types of problems are defined by a limited set of variables, each having a limited domain and a number of Constraints on the values of those variables (these problems are also called Consistent Labeling Problems (CLP), in which “Labeling" means assigning a value to a variable.) Sol...

متن کاملA logic of soft constraints based on partially ordered preferences
Representing and reasoning with an agent’s preferences is important in many applications of constraints formalisms. Such preferences are often only partially ordered. One class of soft constraints formalisms, semiring-based CSPs, allows a partially ordered set of preference degrees, but this set must form a distributive lattice; whilst this is convenient computationally, it considerably restric...
متن کاملUnit commitment by a fast and new analytical non-iterative method using IPPD table and “λ-logic” algorithm
Many different methods have been presented to solve unit commitment (UC) problem in literature with different advantages and disadvantages. The need for multiple runs, huge computational burden and time, and poor convergence are some of the disadvantages, where are especially considerable in large scale systems. In this paper, a new analytical and non-iterative method is presented to solve UC p...
